My client needs an AI chatbot plugin for their WordPress site. I’ve been looking into it, but there are so many options, and it’s getting a bit confusing.
There are mainly two types of chatbots that usually pop up in the bottom right of a page. One type is like a fancy FAQ or full-text search, while the other one can do more, like answering questions about the weather in Tokyo. I’m looking for the second kind.
I’ve found many plugins with confusing pricing. Some make you pay for both the plugin and the AI service. Plus, most of these sites have their own annoying chatbots that pop up and ask for your contact info right away. They remind me of the Donkey from Shrek—very persistent.
What I need is a free plugin that can answer questions about the website, products, and company. It should be friendly and not annoying.
Someone suggested mxchat.ai, so I’ll give that a shot.
Thanks for the suggestion. But it’s not free, and it seems to only answer FAQ-type questions. Plus, it asks for contact details right away. Can that part be turned off?
I’m working on a new WordPress plugin called EchoWP, and it might be what you’re looking for:
It’s free.
It has a simple, non-annoying interface.
You can try it out at https://echowp.com/. It’s still in beta, so I’d love your feedback. You could even be one of the first users! If you run out of free plan limits, let me know, and I’ll give you a coupon for the pro plan.
I tried the beta, and it’s really good! It’s friendly, fast, can handle foreign languages, and it’s not intrusive. The answers seem accurate, though I’m no expert on some of the topics it covers.
One thing: When the answers appear, they disappear after a second or two. I’m using Mozilla Firefox.
Thanks for testing it so quickly! We’re looking into the issue with Firefox.
The free plan lets the AI index up to 100 posts on your site, and users can send up to 100 messages per month. If you hit these limits, let me know, and we can figure something out.
Great! Just let me know when the Firefox issue is fixed. We’re not sure if 100 messages will be enough, though. Visitors might ask a lot of random questions and hit the limit quickly. Could you maybe limit it by users instead?
Yeah, the internet is full of pop-ups, annoying ads, and constant demands. It’s all very frustrating… But back to chatbots! I’m liking EchoWP so far, it’s almost ready and seems friendly and unobtrusive. MXchat.ai looks pretty good too.
This sounds like a fun project! I’m also into AI chatbots and improving user experience. I totally understand about those annoying bots that pop up all the time.
What features are you specifically looking for in the chatbot? Narrowing it down could help. Let us know how it goes with mxchat.ai!
