What are the best plugins for reliable backups

Hey everyone, I’ve had some bad experiences with Updraft Plus. The two times I really needed it to restore a website, it let me down. What plugins do you use to back up your websites?

I use All-in-One WP Migration, and it’s been great for me. It’s reliable for backups and migrations. I’m not a fan of their pricing for extra features, but for the basics, it works well.

Same here. It’s the most reliable one I’ve tried.

I’ve been using it since 2014, and it’s been solid for restoring backups.

Agreed. It’s the best one I’ve used.

If you want to bypass the upload limit, look up version 6.77 on GitHub. It’s still my go-to for moving WordPress sites.

I keep getting this error for one site: Error data: a:1:{s:12:“pclzip_error”;s:80:“PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature”;}

@Charlie
Did you check this? PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT(-10) error message -UpdraftPlus. It suggests the issue might’ve happened during file transfer.

Yeah, I tried, but no luck so far.

@Charlie
If the problem is with your backup endpoint, switching plugins won’t help. You might want to troubleshoot the endpoint or consider using a new one.

@Charlie
That error often happens when the hosting server has memory or timeout limits. Increasing the PHP memory, timeout settings, and max input vars usually helps.

Anyone here tried WPVivid? Is it good?

I used it for a bit, but I went back to cPanel backups. They’re more reliable for me, and I prefer not to install unnecessary plugins.

@Blaine
That’s fair, but for busy sites or stores with frequent updates, cPanel backups might not be enough.

I use it mainly for migrations. The auto-migrate feature is great.

I’ve always relied on Duplicator. It’s simple and effective.

Why not just use the backup provided by your hosting company?

Hosting backups are fine, but they shouldn’t be your only backup. You should have at least three backups stored in different places. Hosting providers can lose data, too.

Good point. We usually rely on hosting backups, but some clients use cheap hosting that doesn’t include backups. That’s where plugins become necessary.
