I’m curious about what plugins people think are essential for WordPress. Here are a few I always use:
- Perfmatters
- Rank Math SEO (for blogs)
- Ultimate Blocks
- wpDiscuz

Did you hear that ACF now supports creating custom post types and taxonomies?

Wait… what? Since when?
@Haim
Since version 6.1! It’s a big update. Here’s a link if you want to check it out: https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/post-types-and-taxonomies/
@Oli
That’s huge! I might just replace Custom Post Type UI entirely. One less plugin to deal with.

I only discovered it recently too. They didn’t make a big fuss about it, which is surprising.
@Dane
I use ACF with Oxygen to make sure clients can only edit specific text or images. It’s been a game-changer for managing client access.
@Oli
I’m hesitant to put everything into ACF. I like having some things coded directly in the functions file for stability.

You’re not wrong. A simple custom functions plugin works well for things like custom post types.
@Haim
Pods has been offering that functionality for free for years, and it includes repeatable fields. Worth checking out: https://wordpress.org/plugins/pods/

Yo, that’s awesome!

Great list. If you’re not already using Oxygen, it’s worth looking into.

If I’ve already built a site with Elementor, would switching to Oxygen make sense?
@Finley
My site works okay, but it feels slow sometimes. I think it’s because Elementor adds too many elements.
@Finley
It depends on how much performance matters to you.
I’ve removed my content from other platforms due to policy changes. This space should value its creators and moderators. Just my two cents.

All websites are targets for bot attacks. My logs are full of random probes for login and admin pages. Always stay prepared.

If I already have Jetpack, do I still need Wordfence, or do they overlap?
@Finley
Don’t use both. Jetpack can slow down your site significantly.
