What plugins do you swear by for a business website…

I have a small business and my website hasn’t been updated in over 10 years. It’s outdated, and I’m thinking of starting from scratch.

The site will mainly showcase our work, with a page for WooCommerce, but that’s only a small part of the business. I also want a section where people can request quotes.

I’m planning to use a block-style theme and know I need to focus on SEO so people can find me online and actually reach out. Any must-have plugins or tips?

A few solid ones I’d suggest: Rank Math, Easy SMTP, LiteSpeed or WP Rocket for caching, Site Kit, and WPCode if you’re into adding custom tweaks.

Rank Math and WordFence are always on my list. The rest depends on what you need and your budget.

Thanks for the tips. When you say I need to keep my permalinks, do you mean the main pages linked from the homepage, like:
.com/services-and-products/
.com/our-work/
.com/contact-us/

These are our main pages. We also have a client login and a lot of product pages in WooCommerce, but I don’t think those are indexed by Google.

@Jo
Got it! So if I change my menu to say “What We Do,” it should still link to “.com/our-work,” correct?

I’ll make sure that happens. Thanks a lot for explaining this!

You can check out plugins and tools I’ve been using for years (here).

Here are some categories I focus on:

  • Website building
  • Managing multiple sites
  • Backup
  • Security
  • Speed optimization
  • SEO
  • Social media integration
  • Forms
  • Analytics and reports

Hopefully, you’ll find some ideas useful!

Honestly, none. It depends on your needs.
