There seems to be a lot of these plugins… what are you guys using?
I’ve been switching between TinyPNG, ShortPixel, and EWWW Image Optimizer for my image optimization. They all work pretty well.
ShortPixel is my go-to.
I use ShortPixel and EWWW, plus SiteGround Speed Optimizer on their servers.
Smush from WPMU DEV is what I’ve been using.
I like TinyPNG, and this guide here really helped me with simple and effective ways to optimize images.
Personally, I’d recommend Imagify. It’s a premium tool, but it works perfectly every time. It also integrates easily with CDNs and gives you different compression levels.
Did you mean WebP conversion instead of SVG?
I never bother with image optimization… I just use S3 for hosting images.
How does using S3 help with optimizing images?
When images load from S3, there’s no load on your server, so I don’t really need to optimize them.
I see where you’re coming from, but S3 helps with storage, not optimization. If you’ve got a big image that could easily be made smaller with optimization, S3 will still load the big file. Image optimization is still important, even with S3.

I use this bulk image compressor. It processes files in parallel, which is really handy. The app is modern and super simple to use.
