Hey everyone, I’m looking to retire a bunch of older articles (2017 and earlier). What’s the best way to do this without hurting SEO? Should I set up redirects to the homepage, or just put them in draft mode? Open to any tips, plugins, or advice. Thanks!
If an article is outdated or irrelevant, I think removing it makes sense since good content is key for SEO. Redirecting those posts to a related and useful page also works well in my experience.
You could try SEO plugins that let you create bulk 301 redirects for the old posts. Another option is adding a rule in the htaccess file to handle redirects, especially if the articles are grouped by categories. Redirecting to the homepage is fine too, from what I’ve seen.
You might want to check out WISLR’s 301 Redirect Tool. It matches old or expiring URLs with the most relevant live pages. Makes the process quick and easy.
