Need help finding a free newsletter plugin for my e-commerce site…

I’m working on a simple e-commerce site, and I don’t want to spend any money on it for now. What’s the best free newsletter plugin to use? I also need one that supports popups.

I’ve seen that MailChimp and MailPoet have a limit of 500 subscribers, and that’s a bit of an issue for me.

What do you mean by a limit? I’ve used them before, and there aren’t any limits. These days, Klaviyo is the go-to for e-commerce anyway, and it has everything you need.

I mean the free version of these plugins. They cap you at 500 subscribers unless you pay.

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, the free versions have those limits. Once you hit 500 subscribers, they start charging. Honestly, you won’t find a totally free service for unlimited email marketing. Plus, trying to do it with your own server could get your domain blacklisted.

If you expect to grow beyond 500 subscribers, you’ll eventually need to pay for email services. Most platforms give you a free plan for smaller lists, so you can start with those and upgrade as your business grows.

Look closely at the costs and how many emails you’re allowed to send each month. Some plans might be cheaper per subscriber but limit how often you can email them.

Once you pick a service, they usually offer a WordPress plugin that’s easy to set up. Even if they don’t, they’ll provide some HTML code you can paste into WordPress to make it work.

If you’re aiming for a paid newsletter setup, where people pay for a subscription, you’ll need a more specialized approach. There are services like Substack for that. But if you’re sticking with WordPress, you’ll probably need WooCommerce and a few other plugins to handle payments and newsletters.

For free newsletter plugins, try these two:

  1. Sendinblue: Free plan lets you send 300 emails per day with unlimited subscribers. You’ll need to upgrade if you want to send more newsletters or get extra features.
  2. Mailjet: Their free plan lets you send 6,000 emails per month without subscriber limits. You can always upgrade if your needs grow.

Both support popups, which is great for e-commerce. If you’re comfortable coding, you could even build your own newsletter system, but that’s more time-consuming.
